Week 8

Size: Assuming she is now over 10 lbs. 4 oz. We'll find out when we go to the doctor next week!
New things: Ruthie sat in her Bumbo for the first time this week. She did a great job supporting her head. She actually enjoyed it. We try to practice for a few minutes each day.
Not crying while taking a bath! Woohoo!
Kicking her feet more when she's talking/squealing/acting excited!
She had her first shot this week...she screamed...loud, and it took her awhile to calm down. It was like she was protesting and wanted to make sure that we knew that she DID NOT like it.
Ruthie can now latch on when nursing! Yay!!! That makes things so much easier!! (Thank you, Lord!)
Ruthie was babysat for the first time by non-family members! It was early morning, so she slept the whole time...how's that for an easy babysitting job?
Fun things: I took Ruthie to meet everyone at work this week. She did a great job being passed around and squeezed. Everyone really enjoyed her, and she gave them smiles and talked to them. It was special to be able to share her with them!
For space and time sake we decided we would do a Christmas tree on the wall out of the Christmas cards we've received. But upon talking with a friend at church yesterday, I discovered she had a couple of small trees she was trying to get rid of (ones that would fit on our table). So, we got to put up a Christmas tree after all! More on that next week. Ruthie really enjoys it as it has bright fiber optic lights all over it that change colors!
On her 8 week birthday, Ruthie got to light the Advent candles at church (well, Tom lit them, and Ruthie just hung out in his arms). Quite entertaining to hear the "awwwwwwws" as we walked down the aisle with her. She only squealed once while up there to inform her father that she did not like the position she was in. Once re-situated, she did a great job for her first stage performance:). She had on her cute outfit that one of my friends got for her for Christmas; everyone thought she looked so cute. I forgot to take pictures. I hope to dress her up in it again today or tomorrow so that I can take pictures of her:). This outfit includes white fuzzy boots which everyone loves! They get lots of attention!
Ruthie loves: Watching the shadows on the back of the seat when she's sitting in her car seat. It's fun to watch her! We bought one of those little mirrors to put in the back window so that we can see her when we're driving (for the trip to the Midwest), and as I was rattling one of her toys on the top of the handle of her car east last night, I discovered that she can see the handle and was really enjoying watching her toy. It was so cute!
Burying her face when sleeping...whether it's your elbow area, neck area, armpit area...she enjoys it!
The Christmas tree lights, the lamp by our door, and the light on the oven:).
Sleep: Not sure...we've had a few nights of her going back to her old routine of two times a night and one early morning feeding. I think she's going to go back to that, but that's ok! That's still not bad at all to us!
Mom and Dad: We got to go out on a date this week while Aunt Payge watched Ruthie (it was a Christmas gift to us from Grandma Lewton). It was fun and special! We also got to go on an early morning date for my birthday this week. Some of our friends came over at 6:30 a.m. to watch Ruthie for us...or to nap while Ruthie slept:). So sweet of them and how sweet of my husband to arrange such a special morning! I am now closer to 30 than I am to 20...wow!

Thank you, Lord, for: For a long weekend with Tom and lots of time at home as a family!
