New things: Tooth #'s 7 & 8 arrived this week! We like to call her our little piranha!
Putting things over her head. She's been doing this for awhile now, but it seems to have picked up frequency this week. She just lifts them up over her head. It's cute!
Ruth has been able to wave "bye-bye" and "hi". She doesn't necessarily use one thing to signify "bye bye" and another for "hi". She also doesn't do the same thing each time, but she does respond to the cues with hand movements in various forms. It's cute! Sometimes she won't do it until the person/people actually leave; it's like she has to think about it first.
Ruth likes to dance...if you say "Go, Ruth. Go, Ruth. Go, go, go, Ruth"! She start to give you a little jig!
Ruth has been rolling and leaving her arm behind her. It looks like it hurts, but she doesn't mind it. It's fun to see everyone else's reaction to it, but to her, it's perfectly normal. She knows how to roll without her arms being caught in awkward positions, but she seems to want to do it that way for some reason.
Ruth is now standing up against the couch.
Ruth can throw things. She's been able to do this for awhile, but I must have forgotten to include it here. She'll bring things up by her head and throw them in front of her.
Ruth has not wanted to be left alone this week. She used to be fine playing with her toys on the floor by herself but so much this week. Not sure if it's separation stuff or just the fact that we've been having to do a lot of packing or that she got lots of attention from family during graduation. Once we're more settled into normal life, we'll be working on that skill again:).
Ruth had some crackers this week. I broke little bits off for her. She quite liked them!
Ruth sat in the front of the cart at the store!!! It makes such a difference when shopping. I feel like this wasn't the first time, but I'm not sure. I don't think I took her to the store for a long time since we didn't have a vehicle for awhile. Boy, I guess she missed out!
Ruth seemed to discover her tongue more this week. It's cute when they are learning to use it...you just don't want it to turn into anything sassy!
Ruth learned to stomp this week a little. I wouldn't say we've "mastered" it yet:).
Ruth started making the "k" sound this week. I'm pretty sure Tom discovered it first this time! Glad he got to introduce me to something new that Ruth did!
Ruth can kind of do a "high five". She'll put her hand up to yours at least:). One of her little friends here claims he taught her how, so now it's their special thing:).
Fun things: Ruth got to go on her 1st 4-wheeler ride with the Papa and Granny this week!
She also got to feed the fish. If I'm remembering correctly, Granny said she wasn't that into it. She probably liked the water fountain in the pond better:).
We got to go to a 25th wedding anniversary part the day after we moved. It was fun to have a little something to go to and to meet some new people!
Ruth and I watched Tom manually wash the car at the car wash this week. She was quite intrigued by the whole thing. We made sure we got sprayed a little, too:).
Ruthie loves: Drinking out of water bottles! (grown-up ones)
Root beer! HA!
She still loves her Papa's trains!
Playing in the bathtub...remember those early days of NOT liking bath time?!? Oh the memories!
Putting things over her head!
$0.49 ice cream cones from McDonald's:).
Sleep: Ruth had a rough night of sleep our last night in Ithaca. This repeated a couple days later. She also had a runny nose and her head was hot, so I think all of this was mainly due to teething, but the hype of the weekend and the fact that things were out of her norm could have played a part as well.
Ruth is back to getting up twice a night this week. Being patient as there's a lot of change in her life right now. It's not horrible but 7 months of getting up during the night...we're ready for some good nights of sleep!
Ruth did pretty well traveling for us! She took pretty good naps and enjoyed her DVD player and toys!
Tom and I: Memorial Day was filled with finishing packing and cleaning the apartment. My family stayed around that morning to help with these things, and we got almost everything done! WOOHOO! THANK YOU! It gave them a bit more time with their granddaughter, too!
Miss Steph came over in the afternoon to help watch Ruth so that we could get a few more things done.
Later that night, we enjoyed a homemade dinner that my mom had made and brought with them (so helpful!), got to say good-bye to our landlord, and went to visit some dear friends so they could see Ruth one more time (and so we could see them, too, of course!).
It was a special and emotional night. It all started to hit that night as the craziness had finally started to dwindle.
Tuesday morning, Tom headed to get trailer, Miss Steph came with breakfast and stayed to help with Ruth (so grateful for this!!), and then our friends the Taylors (along with Esther's parents) came to help us load/clean/watch the baby. SO HELPFUL! Couldn't have done it without them as I had thrown out my back the week before and really shouldn't have lifted anything. It went fast, and I think we were ready to leave about noon. Not bad at all!
We spent Tuesday (Happy 7 months to our little girl!) and Wednesday night with Tom's family in Ohio. We took Wednesday to go through Tom's stuff that he still had at his parent's. Granny and Papa got to babysit!!
Thursday we stayed with my parents in Indiana and went through my stuff that I still had stored there (still have more to go through:)).
On Friday, we headed to our new home in WI and spent the weekend getting settled in...cleaning, daily Walmart trips, creativity with meals (no appliances yet except a microwave:)), the laundromat, searching for appliances, unpacking, and exploring town a bit.
Thank you, Lord, for: A safe journey to our new home. Four wonderful years in the NE. Friends to chat with along the way and a bit of time to myself in the van...good time to think after all that has been going on! Seeing family as we made our way to WI. All the help our friends and family provided in our final stages of packing, cleaning, loading, and leaving!! We're sooooooo grateful!
