Birthday Party & Birthday!!

We had a pink tractor-themed 1st birthday party for Ruth!
Here are pictures of her from birth to 1 year!

Favors were hay bales, John Deere pencils,and mints...
"'Hay', you...thanks for penciling us in today! It 'mint' a lot to us!"

Gotta love what you can do with a little tissue paper and scrapbook paper!

Ruth had to be woken up for her party (we even let her keep sleeping past start time)...the three of us were tired from the night before!

My first attempt at a cupcake cake...thought it would be easier than drawing a tractor or making one out of actual cake. Wasn't too hard1

We played games! The adults actually got into them! I was surprised and glad that they did!

Game #1: Two teams raced to put a jumbo puzzle together (one a barn with a tractor; the other one was a John Deere puzzle:)).  Then they switched puzzles and competed again. (Ruth likes tractors and puzzles!)

Game #2: I hid letters in various tractor books (letters that spell out TRACTOR). Two teams had to search through the books to spell out the word TRACTOR (I think in order...can't remember). (Ruth loves books!)

Game #3: We all sat in a circle and rolled all different sized balls around to each other at the same time. In the middle of the circle was a tractor. If you hit the tractor with a ball, you were out. Last person "standing" won! I wondered if it would be easy to miss the tractor, but we hit it! The game went at a nice pace, and there was an actual winner!

She was intrigued by the candle!

In fact, I'm pretty sure she had 3 total...good thing they were mini ones:)

This is out of order...but this is Ruth on her actual birthday! Ruth and I were out to eat with Tom's parents, and the server brought this out for her! So sweet!! (literally!)

Present time!

She did so well opening presents. She was so excited about everything. She was able to stay focused, too!

Of course, we had to try a few things out along the way!

Sitting really helps with present opening!

Grandma was the official card opener. For some reason, she kept taking her cards to Tom's mom. It was so cute!

From our friends (old neighbors) who Ruth LOVES!! So grateful they got to join us!!

The whole spread! Tractor tires (choc donuts), cow feed (6-layer dip) with bucket loaders (scoop chips), veggie patch, apple orchard, tractor bearings (ranch snack mix of Cheerios, pretzel circles, bagel chips), tractor fuel and oil (soda), etc. It was fun!

Daddy is great at putting together Ruth's toys!

In addition to her birthday brownie, they also brought out a bucket of candy (I think since Halloween is this week). She picked out M&M's. We saved them for later! The brownie (that we all shared) was enough:).
