New things:
One of her uncles
started making a “woooo” sound for her this week, and Ruth started doing it
back. She did it many different times after he or someone else would make the
sound.
Ruth started saying “Ben”, “ball”, and “bird” this
week.
Ruth
warmed up to family really fast this week. So grateful!
Ruth was
feeling MUCH better this week.
I’m not
sure if she did this before this week, and we just didn’t notice it, but she
makes all sorts of noises while eating. When Ruth eats, there’s no doubt in one’s
mind that she likes it as she mmmmmm’s all the way through. It’s rather
entertaining. She definitely doesn’t do it for the attention; she’s just quite
plainly enjoys her foodJ.
Ruth
started rolling over during diaper changes this week…and really not liking
having her diaper changed. Not sure if she just doesn’t want to stop whatever
she’s doing or doesn’t like to be on her back or what. It makes diaper changing
quite difficult, but it has to be done. We tried all sorts of tricks; she still
usually puts up a pretty good fight. Maybe it will help once we’re home, and we’re
back to changing her on her changing pad rather than the floor.
Ruth
pulled herself up from the floor to the couch lots this week at her
grandparents’ place. She’s getting better and better at it.
Fun
things: From
Indiana, we headed to Ohio and got to see all of our family while there. It was
super special. We got to see our nephew and meet our new niece for the first
time. Ruth adored her big cousin and had so much fun with them. She loves
seeing babies in pictures, but she didn’t really get the concept of the baby
this visit. She would want to touch her here and there or was curious about her
on occasion…in just a few months, though, they will be playing and giggling
together. Can’t wait for that!
Tom
joined us this about midweek! It was wonderful to be together as a family
again.
Ruth
enjoyed sitting out on the porch with her grandma in the mornings calling and
watching for the kitties. She liked watching the cats and touching them…vet in
the making?
We
enjoyed a couple of bon fires (hotdogs, s’mores, corn hole, etc.:)) with our family
this week. We went on many 4-wheeler rides, and Ruth got to go on a few, too!
She did really well, and I think she enjoyed being out on them. It was a fun
activity to do as a family.
The day
all of us were together as a family, we had a professional photographer come
out and take some family photos of us! It was so much fun, and he got some
great shots!
One
night, once the babies were sleeping, a few of us went out for a burger run
from one of the local convenient stores (it’s a Cully tradition). The food was
yummy, but the experience was even better!!
Ruth
loves: Her
grandma bought her some Lil’ Crunchies and some Teddy Grahams. Ruth loved both,
especially the Lil’ Crunchies!
She still loves her grandpa’s trains!
Eggs! She ate eggs from a breakfast casserole this
week at her grandma’s and gobbled them up!!
Being “gotten” and “tickled” by her uncle!
Trying grandma’s coffee. It’s not necessarily the coffee she enjoys
but the idea of getting to drink out of the cup, I thinkJ.
Whipped cream…a family friend went out to dinner
with us one night, and Ruth wasn’t sure about him. After he gave her some of
his milkshake’s whipped cream, though, I think she started to soften up a bitJ.
Her swing! Her grandma got her a swing, and while
Tom and I were loading up in Indiana, Ruth got to swing. Thankfully, we get to
take it back with us!
Sleep: Ruth woke up during the night this week which
is not necessarily uncommon (she will do that occasionally at home) but since
there were other people in the house, we didn’t want her waking them up with
fussing herself to sleep. It made for a few rough nights (rough because we’re
now used to sleeping through the nightJ). One night, when Tom was still in WI (he joined us later
on), one of Ruth’s uncles helped me out by running her grandpa’s train for her
for awhile. That put her to sleep as she wouldn’t even nurse back to sleep.
On a
couple other occasions, her grandpa put her to sleep running the train. We may
need to invest in a train…
Ruth struggled
a bit more on the ride back to WI. She rode in the truck, and since she can
always see her daddy, it was probably harder for her to fall asleep and not
want to play or be out.
Tom and
I: Tom and I celebrated
3 years of marriage this weekJ. We were a part on our anniversary but plan to take
a trip sometime in the near future to celebrate. We still got to enjoy a
cupcake together to celebrate that week even though it wasn’t on the day of.
Tom got to open his graduation gifts from his
parents…he loved them (see pictures for details). So creative and special!!
We packed up more stuff from each side’s places to
bring back with us. Both vehicles were loaded down again.
Thank
you, Lord, for: Safety
on the road for Tom and for all of us as we traveled back to WI. For getting to
see ALL of our Cully family at the same time (so special!!).
