Size: Not sure, but I do
think this week is the last week for the owl dress…probably was too small
already, but I thought I’d squeeze her in it one more time!
New things: One day this
week, when she and I were in the kitchen, she started to leave the kitchen but
stopped to wave “bye-bye” to me! It was cute! Interesting to me to see how her
little brain is working and comprehending various situations.
On Sunday this week, Ruth
fell down and bumped her head on a pumpkin, and we laughed (to make the
situation light-hearted), so after shaking it off, she went to pull herself up
using her walker and pretended to “fall” so that we would laugh at her. She
looked at us and laughed…applying the concept of falling and bonking her head
on the pumpkin. She did this quite a few times and laughed and laughed. Then
she did it while getting up using the high chair and couch and while just
walking around (she just randomly plopped herself on the floor and
laughed/smiled/looked at us)…quite the comedian!
Ruth has already had her
finger up her nose, but this week, she started putting it up her nose and then
into her mouth…fun fun.
She also started putting
her fingers into her mouth so far that she kept causing herself to gag…we have
no idea why!?! Just another exploration thing?! Thankfully, the finger in the
nose then mouth and the gagging didn’t last long.
Ruth sat Indian style this
week. I’m pretty sure she did it on her own at first. Then I thought it was
cute, so I put her legs back in that position:). Ha! It makes her look like a big girl when
she sits like that!!
Ruth has been throwing
balls behind her this week (I think purposefully). Must be an interesting
discovery to her!
She is really getting into
this whole “giving loves” to her stuffed animals/”fuzzy” things. She’s hold
them close to her and says “awww” and gives kisses. It’s really cute.
Ruth can say “puppy”.
Ruth now enjoys dropping
Chewy back into bed when we get her up. We’ll pick her up, and she’ll say
“back” signaling she wants to put Chewy back in bed. So we usually have to pick
him up out of bed, give him to her, and then she’ll drop him back (instead of
her just holding him when we pick her up).
I think I mentioned this
in another post, but I put candy corn out (on our table) as part of our fall
décor, and of course, Ruth discovered it. Well, sometimes we will allow her to
have “one”, and we tell her that. “Ok, Ruth, just one. Only one piece of Candy,
ok?” (and hold up one finger) Well, if you accidentally say the word candy or
if she is saying it to you, and you repeat it, or even if she just sees it,
she’ll hold up a finger and say “one”. I’m not sure she gets the concept of only
“one” as she usually wants more…haha, but it’s at least a start. It’s cute,
though, because she usually REALLY wants a pieceJ….as you can well imagine!
Welcome, tooth #12! Due to
this, Ruth was not feeling well this week….rightly so, huh?
Ruth can now make a fist
and “knock” on doors….you can barely hear her tiny little hands on the door,
but she can do it! Her favorite time to knock…after Daddy gets home, he usually
goes to the bathroom. Ruth stands outside the bathroom and calls “Dada!”…so I
started prompting her to knock. It’s cute!!
Fun things: The three of
us went to a pumpkin patch this week. We checked out the petting zoo area (farm
animals) and played some of the activities that they have there…Ruth got to
ride a pedal tractor (and Tom got to push it:)). We also got a pumpkin as we have two already but wanted a 3rd…one
for each of us!! We’ve been wanting to visit here! Glad we got to; it was fun!
On Sunday, we decorated
our pumpkins to look like us:). We had a momma, dada, and baby Ruth pumpkin and drew faces on them
with a marker. Tom also had the fun idea of using some of our matching hats and
my scarf to give our pumpkins a true authentic Cully look to them:).
Earlier this week, we went
to some of our friends’ son’s football game! It was fun! Between catching up
and watching Ruth, I didn’t watch much of the game:), but it was still fun! Ruth and I made some snicker
doodle bars to take as a little football game treat for everyone; they were
yummy! Ruth had a great time, and it was a nice fall evening to be out!
This weekend, our area was
putting on a local arts tour. We have been wanting to take Ruth to the apple
orchard in town (and it happened to be a part of the tour), so we went on
Saturday (got to taste an apple and an apple cider donut) and made a couple
more stops that were also in the tour including a goat farm (sampled cheese and
saw the goats in the barn and outside where you could pet/feed them) and of a
another art place just down the road from us (we actually didn’t get out of the
van at this stop; just drove around).
Ruth and I hung out with
Tom at work a bit this week to watch the corn silage dropping and packing
process. We watched the big semi trucks bring in the freshly harvested corn
silage and then watched the GINORMOUS tractors move and pack it into a huge
pile. It was quite fascinating and quite the operation. The tractors are huge.
Sometimes, it looked like they would collide, but they didn’t. They knew what
they were doing. It was fun, and I could tell my husband would have loved to
have been in one of those tractors (he did end up getting to later on on more
than one occasion; he loved it, of course!)!!
Ruth received a couple of
packages this week in the mail…which she loved (thank you grandparents!). One
of them was a scrapbook with pictures of tractors, cows, pumpkins, etc….all
things that Ruth loves! Grandpa Cully made it for her. Every time we turned the
page, she would get excited and say “tractor” (that is, if it was a tractor).
Ruth loves: She’s been
doing this for awhile, but when she wakes up from a nap or from night time
sleep, she wants to get a book (or multiple books) off of the bookshelf in her
room. Sometimes, the first word she says when we go in to pick her up is
“book”.
Peanut butter!
Sleep: ?? Not sure?! I don’t
have any notes:)
Tom and I: We tried out another new church this week. The pastor of the church
is the father of someone we went to college with in Indiana, and thankfully, we
were able to meet up with our friend after service. It was nice to see him and
catch up briefly. The church was HUGE!! It was also quite a drive. We’re glad
we got to visit! Afterward, we stopped by McDonald’s to get some free fries
(compliments of Grandma Cully:)) to tie us over until we got home for lunch as we had a bit of a drive.
The superintendent and
safety officer of our school district held a “meet and greet” coffee hour type
deal this week, so Ruth and I went! I just thought it would be a good
opportunity, and it totally was! We were actually the one people who showed up,
so we got them all to ourselves, learned lots, and enjoyed connecting in the community.
It was fun!
Thank you, Lord, for: Fun
family memories. It’s fun to go exploring together, and we’re grateful for the
time we have to do so.
