New things: Gritting her teeth...ah! It's a horrible sound, and she does it a lot! I had no idea they knew how to grit their teeth so young...crazy!
Ruth is a DADDY'S GIRL!! She loves her Daddy!! As soon as he comes home from school, she just lights up, smiles, and squeals! He washes his hands when he gets home before touching her, and sometimes she'll start to fuss when we walks away, or she'll watch him like a hawk as he makes his way to the bathroom. She also seems to get super giggling when he's holding her. All I have to do is "get her" or say something goofy, and she starts cracking up. It's so cute! All three of us have fun together.
Fun things: Ruth got to go to work with me a couple of times this week. One of those days was for our annual Grad Bake-Off. Ruth had a wonderful time being around everyone all day. She also did a great job with naps while there!
We took a short trip down to PA to visit our friends there. We were able to attend a baby shower for some of our dear friends, introduce Ruth to some friends for the first time, and got to catch up with everyone as we bounced from house to house.
Ruth was dedicated this week...On Mothers' Day! It was special we could share the dedication with some of our dear friends whose little ones were also being dedicated. It was also special to have her dedicated at our church here in Ithaca where we started our family. I only cried a little:). She "talked" quite a bit while we were up there. She's such a chatter bug:). Cool note: She wore a dress that was mine when I was around her age:).
We went over to some friends for a cookout this week. The weather was perfect, the food was great, and the company was even better. Tom got to look for bugs with one of their kids, and Ruth had fun "talking to their baby.
Ruthie loves: All "my students" (note: these are grad students:)) and my friends (other staff members) from work. She loves being around them!!
Other babies!! She just loves looking at, squealing at, and trying to touch them!
TV (still). She was around a TV again this week and was hooked! It's kind of funny!
Watching me workout (or rather watching the TV while I work out). She gets excited when she sees that it's on.
Sleep: Ruth slept well through the night on our PA trip! It's always comforting when she sleeps well at a new/unfamiliar place. Naps were a little harder as she would fall asleep in the car but wake up once we closed a car door or started to get her car seat out at our next location. Plus, there were way more fun things to do...like play with friends! She was a trooper for us, though!!
Naps were difficult during car searching as well...similar situations to the above (she was in and out of vehicles LOTS), but we all made it as it was something that had to be done.
We're grateful she's been so flexible; she definitely deserves credit for that as these last few months (basically half of her life) have been "unique" (for lack of better words). Thank you, Ruth!!
Mom and Dad: We did lots of car searching this week!!! Now that Tom is on a less busy rotation, we were able to find a few spare hours to travel to various places in search of a new vehicle. We (including Ruth) spent a lot of time in the car multiple days driving all over but did not find the right fit. Ruth was a trooper but was definitely tried of the traveling. It was a little discouraging as we were hoping we would find what we wanted sooner so as to focus on getting ready to move but soon!! There are lessons to be learned in car searching, for sure!
I am so grateful I have a husband who understands car stuff. It makes such a difference in this process!! He's so good with that sort of thing and with making big purchases!!
I went into work a few days this week for our 3rd Annual Bake-Off (I co-started this event at work with one of my students; I look forward it every year!!!). It was tons of fun and tight competition. Everything was super yummy! I couldn't have done it without all the participants and those who helped set-up and tear down. Maybe I could start a Bake-Off competition at Tom's new place of work:)...
I had a special "first with the child out of the womb" Mothers' Day!! Tom went out around 5:30 a.m. to go get me breakfast and flowers so that we could enjoy it and have some time to talk before Ruth awoke. She decided to wake up early that day anyway (she must have wanted to spend more time with me since it was Mothers' Day...haha):). Breakfast was super yummy, the flowers were beautiful, and it was a lovely morning.
Tom got to help round of some cows when we were in PA...that's always a fun adventure for him!!
Thank you, Lord, for: Time to car search, getting to see Tom, and for our daughter, who You have entrusted to our care.
